You Did It to Me: Seeing Jesus in the Least of These

ree

Scripture: Matthew 25:35–40 (NIV)

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me...Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

💡 A Moment of Reflection

Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 are sobering and powerful. He isn’t simply giving us a lesson on kindness—He’s revealing the heart of Kingdom living. When we care for others, especially those who are often forgotten, we are serving Him directly.

Let that sink in: When you comfort the grieving, feed the hungry, or visit someone sick—you are honoring Christ. He identifies so closely with the “least of these” that our treatment of them becomes our treatment of Him.

🧠 How Can We Apply This?

Jesus calls us to act. He doesn’t say, “Watch someone else do it.” He says, you did it to Me. So ask yourself:

  • When was the last time I served someone who could offer me nothing in return?

  • Have I made room in my busy schedule to see the needs around me?

  • Do I view serving others as serving Jesus?

Even small acts matter. A warm meal. A handwritten note. A hospital visit. A listening ear. Jesus is in the details.

🙏 A Simple Prayer

Lord Jesus, Open my eyes to see You in the broken, the weary, and the forgotten. Let my heart be stirred not only with compassion but with action. May I live a life that reflects Your love through service, So that when I stand before You, I will hear, "Well done… You did it to Me.” Amen.

🕊️ Ministry Challenge

This week, take this teaching to heart and choose one of the following:

  • Visit someone who is sick or grieving

  • Deliver a meal or care bag to a struggling family

  • Volunteer your time at a local outreach, shelter, or prison ministry

  • Encourage your church or small group to do the same

Let your love be loud. Let your service be sincere. And let your heart reflect Christ.
